Week 32.... (Sorry its so long)

This has by far been the LONGEST and most STRESSFUL week of my pregnancy. It all started when I woke up Friday morning, the first day of week 32, and... ***WARNING! EXTREMELY PERSONAL INFORMATION***... lost my plug. It completely freaked me out. I immediately woke up Jared and pulled out my books and started reading about it. He called the doctor, my mom, his mom. Of course the nurses wanted me to go to the hospital immediately but my doctor was on a cruise so she wasn't even in town and I didn't want an on call doctor. Plus my insurance wouldn't have paid for me to sit in a hospital room all weekend. From what I read about it, women can lose their plug and not go into labor for a couple of weeks. So I thought, "If I start having contractions, I will go to the hospital. Let's just wait it out and see what happens." And that was just the beginning.....

I already mentioned that I got my steroid shots on Wednesday and Thursday. Well, apparently they have a few side effects I wasn't aware of. For example, not being able to breathe in deeply and loosing my voice and stirring up contractions and not being able to sleep and seriously awful heartburn. Oh my word, those shots did a number on me. So my body is freaking out about what happened on Friday and on top of that, I might as well had pneumonia as bad as I felt. I would sweat from head to toe one second and literally start freezing the next. My body was in overdrive and couldn't get it together. It was the worst I have felt ever.... and I was an emotional wreck thinking the girls were coming three weeks earlier than they should be.

I knew I had a doctor's appointment on Monday, so that was my goal. Make it until Monday and then the doctors can check everyone out. Well my doctor was out of town, like I said, so I had the on call doctor check me out. Baby A's amniotic fluid was at a 4 and her sisters were at an 8 so I was leaking fluid. Not a good thing. Plus I was dilated just under 1, which isn't a lot but certainly not good considering how much weight and pressure Im carrying around. The on call doctor insisted I go to the hospital to be monitored. But it didn't feel right to me. I knew as soon as I was admitted they would poke and run all kinds of tests and it would for sure put me into labor. So I told her that I wasn't going, but that I would come back tomorrow morning (when MY doctor would be there) to get checked out. She couldn't believe I told her no. A mother's instinct is far superior than a doctor's though. Thank goodness.

I didn't sleep at all that night. I was resigned that my girls would be coming in the next day or so. I was so disappointed that my body couldn't hold it together these last crucial weeks. I know two and a half weeks early doesn't sound like a lot, but when you think about how they are already coming 6 weeks early to begin with... I just felt defeated. I was an emotional exhausted disaster. So 7:30 am the next day (on Jared's birthday, poor guy) we went BACK to the doctor's office, did ANOTHER ultrasound and..... found out Baby A's fluid was back up to a 7. It was nothing short of a miracle. An answer to A LOT of prayers. I talked to my doctor and apparently Im leaking fluid so slowly my body is able to regenerate or replenish the lost fluid for baby A. Amazing!

The doctor's still confident that we have a couple of weeks until delivery. She was proud of me for not going to the hospital; she agreed with me that they would have tried to deliver my girls too. My blood pressure was up (132/80) and I am still dilated somewhat though so Im on bed rest officially. I have an appointment on Thursday and then again on Tuesday. So that's my new goal... just make it until Tuesday. Thank you all so much for your prayers. Until next week.... hopefully.

Doctor's Update

We went to the doctor yesterday for our checkup and all is well. The girls got so big in just a week and a half! Baby A is now 3 pounds 13 ounces. Baby B is now the same at 3 pounds 13 ounces. And Baby C caught up with her sisters at 3 pounds 11 ounces. (For those who are adding it up in your head, thats 11 and 1/2 pounds of baby in there..... just baby.) Holy Moly! They each almost gained a whole pound in just a week and a half.

My goal was to get the girls up to 4 pounds by birth and now Im thinking they will get to 4 1/2 pounds. Which is so awesome and hopefully means little to no time in the NICU. I got my steroid shots yesterday and this morning so thats over with. Those should help with their lung production. My cervix is still tight and long but with the weight and pressure of everybody in there its starting to show signs of "funneling." Nothing too scary though because we are still doing well beyond expectations at this point. The doctor is confident that 35 weeks will be when we call it quits. Thats July 16th- just THREE weeks away!!!!!! WOW! We are so close!

Other than that, my blood pressure is perfect (120/80). I gained 6 pounds in a week and a half. I will start seeing the doctor now twice a week until the girls get here. So my next appointment is actually on this coming Monday and then Thursday. I really hate that though because its so uncomfortable for me to lay down and do ultrasounds (and whatever other kind of probing and tests they do) every time. It wears me out and I just feel completely exhausted after leaving the doctor. But, three weeks right?! We can do it!

Week 31

Ok guys, this is really getting harder and harder and less and less fun. Every single part of my body aches and is screaming for relief. I actually feel like I have the flu sometimes. Thats the only way to describe it. Being so tired all the time, aches and pains, no real appetite, light headed. My body is definitely being pushed to the max these last few weeks of this pregnancy. The swelling in my legs and feet have really gotten insane. Heartburn has made its ugly appearance as well. Oh dear, I just look at Jared sometimes with tears pouring out and just beg for a break. Honestly, just one day of a break and I feel like I could do this no problem. The doctor hasn't officially put me on bed rest but there's really no need. Im so tired and in so much pain all the time that its either the bed or the couch where you can find me. Agh and I just hate complaining so much because if I had the option right now to have the girls here and this all be over or go another 4 weeks, there's no doubt what I would pick. Those girls need more time in there and I would be devastated if they came this early. As awful as this is day in and day out, I dont want my girls hooked up to tubes and IVs for the first few weeks of life. No one deserves that. Im just being a baby.

Jared has been so great and helpful. Between him and my parents I am so blessed to have so much help. Jared actually shaved my legs on Sunday. He got a huge tuperware bowl and shaved them for me while I relaxed on the bed. So sweet. He and my daddy rub down my legs and feet for me everyday to help prevent blood clots. My mom cleans and cooks everything so that I don't have a single thing to do but lay down and incubate babies. I can't imagine not having these people around to help me.

Last but not least, Jared and I have some news. We changed the girls' names. Im so sorry to all those who embroidered their names on gifts and things, I really am. But I just couldn't get over not having family names in there and I never really was sold on having all the names sound alike. Anyway, please understand how sorry we are and I promise I will have the names re-embroidered. The new names are:
Abigail Riley Lynn Toone (just added my middle name to hers)
Mia Rebecca Toone (my mothers name)
Charlotte Cynthia Toone (my mother-in-laws name)
I so love our new names and am 100% satisfied now. We have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and I will post the latest news and updates after that visit. Hopefully we can schedule a date for the delivery. Please keep us in your prayers everyone. Love you all!

Shower #4 pics

So these are pics from the shower my in laws through for us in Utah. They were busy little bees! I was able to chat and participate (somewhat) via the internet web cam which was really neat. They made tons blankets and onesies for the girls. It was so sweet of them to put so much hard work into this and we so appreciate it! Thanks you guys. Here are a few pics my sister in law took for me!

They ironed on designs for the onesies and are sewing on these ribbons of fabric to the bottoms for ruffles.

Some blankets they made.
These are the blankets I picked out the fabric for. They did an awesome job on these!!
Some guests....

Shower #2 Pics

This is the the shower the ladies at church threw for me.
The decorations were cute little onesies and bibs, ect. So cute!!!
This is the cake and food spread they did for me.
This was a cute game where you guess how big around my belly is just by looking and you measure it out with string. Mom was about a foot and a half bigger than what I really was! Ha! Thanks a lot mom!
This game was gross but fun! They melted chocolate bars inside a diaper and you had to decide which candy bar it was just by smelling it! haha EWW!
Check out all that loot! Wow! I couldn't believe how many presents and diapers we got. It was so awesome! These ladies really just went above and beyond for the girls.
Cute outfits we got.

Week 30 Pics

Since Baby A didn't cooperate last ultrasound and give us a profile shot, she decided to this time.
This one is my favorite pictures we got this time. It's the back of Baby B's head and she's pointing with her hand right above it. Can you tell?
Check out those Cankles! Man, they hurt!
Jared's foot compared to mine. I have sausage toes..... >tear<
Week 30 Belly Shots

Week 30.... Five-Six weeks to go!

These pictures are actually from week 29, so I will have updated ones later.

I am really sorry everyone that I missed last week. I was pretty sick most of the time and very uncomfortable the rest of it. But Im doing better now and am ready to update everyone!

Last Sunday I was only able to stay at church for about 45 minutes and then had to leave. My feet and legs began to swell to disgusting proportions. I was sweating, couldn't get comfortable and my feet were a redish purple color so Jared and I left so I could prop them up. Which means, Ashlee isn't able to attend church for the next few weeks until after the girls get here. I am so bummed about that but its really not worth the risk of going into pre-term labor. (For the LDS folks, Jared is going to ask for permission to give me the sacrament at home. I hope they let us.)

So thats how the week started. Then Tuesday night around 930 I started getting awful cramps and sweats/chills. I was miserable! I woke up about 3 or 4 times that night going to the bathroom in a mad dash. This lasted about 2-3 days. Im pretty sure it was food poisoning from reheating a beef taco. No fun...

Then Friday was our doctor's appointment. I was so incredibly nervous about it. With the swelling and sickness I had that week, I was SO afraid that I would be put on bedrest or just something wasn't going to be good news I guess. Well Heavenly Father showed me yet again how much He is watching out for my girls. All good news!! Baby A is 3.3 pounds. Baby B is 3 pounds. And Baby C is 2.14 pounds. The average weight for a singleton baby at 30 weeks is 3 pounds, so my girls are sure keeping up. And baby C is catching up with her sisters. My blood pressure was perfect, my cervix is 3.6 still. I gained 8 pounds in two weeks, hence the seriously disturbing swelling. But the doctor said its perfectly normal to swell that much this late in pregnancy. All my other ailments that I mentioned to her and wont bore you with are also just part of pregnancy, which is great news to me! As long as my girls are fine, I can deal with whatever. I just get nervous every little thing that hurts me, hurts them too. Not the case, thank goodness.

The doctor is still VERY confident that we will hit 35 weeks and is going to call a multiples specialist in Birmingham to discuss my situation to see if its worth it to go 36 weeks. She still cant believe how well the girls are growing and how well my body is tolerating it. It brings tears to my eyes because Heavenly Father is watching these girls so closely. They are more His than mine and I know He wants them healthy too. It's such a spiritual experience to share these girls with Him.

My next doctor's appointment is June 23rd and I will be getting my steroid shots at that time. They give moms who are having multiples two steroid shots to help the babies' lungs grow a little faster since they have less time in the womb to do that. Lungs are the last thing to completely develop in babies. After that appointment she said we will go to once a week or bi-weekly appointments. We're getting sooo close!!

Finally, this week I had two awesome baby showers thrown for my girls. The super sweet ladies that work with my mom threw one on Tuesday at a local restaurant for me. I tell ya.... you will never meet a sweeter, more giving group of ladies. Most of them had never even met me, and I just felt so much love from each of them. It was a precious shower. And also, my sister-in-law and mother-in-law threw one on Saturday. Since they live in Utah I wasn't able to go, obviously, but I was able to speak and meet most of the ladies who went through video chat. They made blankets and did some crafts for the girls. It was so sweet of them to throw a full on shower even though I wasn't able to be there (and on my Mother-in-law's birthday!). Jared and I have such a wonderful family.

Since this post has become a novel, I will post the pictures of the showers, Friday's ultrasound and updated belly pics later. Sorry it is so long, but it IS two weeks worth! haha Keep up the prayers everyone!
